Rubio dei Gelsi is obtained from Grechetto di Todi, an ancient vine cultivated for first time in Magna Greece then by the Etruscans who brought it to central Italy.

Picking period: beginning of September

Vinification: hand picked in perforated boxes, soft pressing of whole grapes using pneumatic press. Immediate separation of the solid parts, cold static decantation to clean the must. Alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature (62°F) in stainless steel vats for an average of 15 days

Refining: 3 months in tanks, 2 months in bottles

Bottling: in January (the year after the harvest), average yearly production 20.000 bottles

Alcohol content: 13% vol.



WINE'S CHARACTERISTICS

Colour: pale yellow with golden shades

Bouquet: fruity flagrance, notes of citrus in particular grapefruit.

Flavour: soft, well balanced. A slight acidity makes it pleasant and fresh

Serve at: 55°F – 59°F

Goes well with: appetizers, fish, white meat and cheese

The wine is pale yellow with golden hues. Intense and persistent notes of fruit, grapefruit, peach and almond dominate the bouquet which has subtle floral notes; flavour is similar to the bouquet. Long, savory finish.

This elegant wine is obtained from selected Merlot grapes. The colour is deep ruby red. The bouquet and taste have notes of raspberry, blackcurrant, and a hint of balsamic. A strong finish rounds out this classy vintage.

Moro dei Gelsi is the “leading wine of our cellars”. which is a special blend of Sangiovese, Sagrantino and Merlot grapes.

Picking period: Merlot (end of August beginning of September), Sangiovese (second week of September), Sagrantino (end of September, beginning of October)

Vinification: hand picked in perforated boxes, destemmed and fermentated in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature (max 82°F). Maceration for 20 days with repeated remixing. Lees are gently pressed and the wine is then drawn out of the vats. Malolactic fermentation in tanks

Refining: 6 months in tanks, 6 months in bottles

Bottling: in April (the year after the harvest), average yearly production 15.000 bottles

Alcohol content: 13,5% vol.



WINE'S CHARACTERISTICS


Colour: ruby red

Bouquet: elegant and intense, with a clear-cut fruity notes of raspberries, mulberries, blackberries and cherries

Flavour: soft and velvety, the acidity is well balanced and in harmony with the alcohol and the tannins. A wine of substantial body and structure with a great character

Serve at: 64°F

Goes well with: roasts, red meat and game, matured cheese
This charismatic top vintage obtains its excellence from a blend of select Merlot and Sagrantino grapes. It has a deep garnet glow with a broad, intense nose and a mouthful of wild cherry and blackberry, softened by spicy, delicate tannins. An excellent, well-balanced structure rounds this superb blend.
